Handover, completions and documentation: the last mile

The challenge we see

A system can be tested, running and doing its job, and still not be accepted. The client needs the evidence: test records, inspection sheets, certificates, redlined drawings and completion packs. Getting that evidence together is often the last thing to be planned and the first thing to be squeezed.

What tends to go wrong

Records are written up at the end from memory rather than as the work happens. Formats change between subcontractors. Punch lists stay open because no one owns closing them out. Paperwork does not match what was installed, and the final drawings are out of date. Handover slips, retentions are held back, and the team stays on site longer than planned to fix paper rather than plant.

Good handover starts with people who record as they work. Our commissioning, E&I, C&I and mechanical people are used to working to your procedures and completing records to your format, so the evidence builds up as testing progresses.

We can also take on a defined package as a subcontractor under your contract, including the testing, inspection and record-keeping that goes with it. That gives you one point of contact for that scope and a clearer picture of where completions stand. Our target is to provide a shortlist soon after a clear brief, though we cannot guarantee it.
